Breathing Problems

There are a few different airway obstruction conditions that may or may not be a problem for your bulldog. A small windpipe, nostrils that are too small or a elongated soft palate which can swell and block the wind pipe. These things are able to be fixed with surgery.

When dogs get hot they pant to release the heat from their body. Since Bulldogs have such a short nose, it's much harder for them to keep themselves from overheating. These dogs tend to get a little too excited which can also cause some breathing issues. If there is excessive barking or panting, their throats can swell causing respiratory issues.

Too much exercise or strenuous activities can cause your bulldog to overheat so you don't want to push it. You will get to know their comfort level the more time you spend with him or her.

English Bulldogs

English Bulldogs can surprise you with their athletic capabilities. They have a very broad but short build so they appear very stocky. Bulldogs have very big heads and an underbite that just adds to their cuteness. They have long flap like jowls that hang down over their teeth. Their appearance can be intimidating but don't let that fool you. They are very kind, gentle and for the most part dog training comes easy with these cute little beasts.

Bulldogs often have problems with drooling (like many other dogs), snoring they may slobber just a bit. What dog doesn't though right? The Bulldog makes a great family pet but they do prefer to be the only dog in the house.
